Supporting the region

Newcastle College works with businesses across the region to deliver world-class training, open-up employment opportunities and help employers to access the next generation of skilled talent. 

Its Business Development team helps employers to access training, funding and recruitment support.

The College specialises in vocational training and by working closely with industry it can offer its students work experience opportunities and industry insight through masterclasses and guest lectures, while employer partners can access a pipeline of skilled and work-ready students and graduates.

How Apprentices Have Benefitted Smulders

Smulders Projects UK is part of International Steel Construction Company Smulders Group. It has a large facility in the North East. We spoke to Stijn Sterck, General Production Manager, about how their business has benefitted from hiring apprentices through Newcastle College.

Stijn said: "We believe that apprenticeships are a great way to grow skills within a business. By employing young talent, we can retain the skills needed for the future.
