Local employers, including Carlisle College, are backing an Armed Forces Covenant which the Carlisle City Council re-signed this week.

The covenant is a promise by the nation to ensure that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

Sarah McGrath, principal of Carlisle College, said: “Carlisle College has a role to play in terms of educating and supporting families.

“A lot of our young people will have parents who are in the forces, so it’s really important for us as a college to raise awareness and say this is something as a college we want to support.”
