Carlisle College plastering apprentice Deniss Fridenbergs has been named the 2023 Apprentice of the Year by employer partner British Gypsum.

British Gypsum is the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-performance drylining solutions, that deliver sustainability and performance for people and our planet.

Denniss's tutor, Matty McLeish said “I nominated Deniss because of his inspirational work ethic, his admirable attitude, and his willingness to go above and beyond for his college, his fellow students, and his employer.”

This year, the trophy was presented to Denniss, along with a cordless DeWalt mixer, by British Gypsum Skills Partnership Manager Ryan Seeley. He said: “Deniss is a model apprentice, who deserves not only the prize and trophy, but also the recognition of all of his hard work and dedication to the craft of plastering.”
