NCG is committed to reduce its environmental impact. We have outlined 8 key areas where we believe we can make the biggest difference. Our ambition is to reduce our overall negative environmental impact by 50% by 2030.
Here is a quick update on our progress and actions we've taken so far.
Tree Planting
We have been planting over 500 trees at our Newcastle and West Lancashire campuses to help combat climate change and increase biodiversity.
Eco Campus
We are currently at Silver for the Eco Campus award which is a framework for achieving ISO 14001:2015.
Green Roof
Newcastle Sixth Form college has a sedum (green roof) across its building, providing both insulation and biodiversity.
Green Training
Staff and Student awareness training.
Electric Care Charging Points
We have installed EV charging points at our Carlisle, Newcastle and West Lancashire colleges that are discounted for staff and students.
Lighting
We are changing all of our lighting to LED that are more efficient and require less energy.
Technology
We use energy management systems along with sensors to ensure we operate our buildings in the most efficient way.
Renewable Energy
All of our electricity is purchased from renewable sources
