Newcastle College roofing apprentice Brock Moore has been named Apprentice of the Year by his tutors and our employer partner Cupa Pizarras.
Brock,19, is in his second year of a Roof Slating and Tiling apprenticeship with local roofing specialist AA Roofing.
Programme Leader Jay Lewis said “Brock has perfect attendance and a brilliant attitude. He’s always in early and he works really hard. The improvement we’ve seen in his work since he started is outstanding as well. This is thoroughly deserved.”
Newcastle College’s annual ‘Roofing Apprentice of the Year’ competition is sponsored by Cupa Pizarras, the world leader in natural slate and a longstanding partner of the College.
Myles Doran from Cupa Pizarras presented Brock with his trophy and congratulated him on all his hard work. Speaking to Brock he said: “I’m really pleased to be able to give you this award. It can’t have been easy through lockdown, doing all your work online, but Jay tells me you got on really well with it.”
Brock commented: “I can’t believe it! I’m genuinely shocked. It feels great to have my hard work recognised.”
Brock’s employer, Adam Horton added: “Brock is a grafter. He works hard, and we’re pushing him to make his own decisions now as well. He’s responding really well and he deserves this award.”
