West Lancashire College are pleased to announce significant investment to their Engineering Department as a result of local demand in the sector.
One of the college’s strategic priorities is to provide an innovative and responsive led curriculum which meets the needs of employers and addresses local and regional skills shortages. With this in mind the college recently opened The School of Science, a hi-tech centre with a fully equipped Engineering suite giving students access to the very best specialist equipment and technology as they train for their future careers.
The School of Science was funded by the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership’s Growth Deal Programme, and aims to unlock potential and give local people the ability to drive forward growth for the area.
In addition to the facilities, the college have also invested to grow their Engineering delivery team, and boast their Engineering Managers, Assessors and Tutors to be some of the best in the business! The newly formed team have vast academic and industry experience, working previously at leading colleges in the North West. Their previous industry roles include time served Toolmaker, Electrical Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Nuclear De-commissioning Project Engineer and Engineer in the Automotive Industry.
The college now offer a range of Engineering qualifications from their hi-spec centre which includes Engineering Technical Support Technician Apprenticeship and BTEC Level 3 Engineering.
